Basingstoke swpp Gold award Hampshire photographer tells the background to the image story

All is different on a wedding day and one of my Jobs is to take reflective images that portray an ambience that lifts and excites my clients when they see their photographs for the first time.

This image gave me goose bumps because when I look back at it I remember the carnage that was happening behind me.The wedding breakfast was commencing and everyone was sitting down through a side door so there was no room for me really. I had to set this up with a really slow shutter speed while the camera was fastened to a tripod.

I had to work very quickly with maybe two or three minutes to set this up and to make everything seem relaxed in the photo.

That is something you have to learn and get better at as a photographer which is being able to work under extreme pressure. So knowing your equipment inside out helps alleviate this.

Thats not something your going to find out as a client that easy from a photographer so always check the work out to see if you like what they take and how much experience they have will help.

So the image doesn't tell the true story and the Bride and Groom won't think about that when they look fondly back at this picture with its calmness and beauty that I think shines through.

I entered this after much deliberating in the monthly competition with swpp only to find I had won a Gold for this image with a chance then at the end of the year for nomination for the overall winners.
